TaleNights ("we", "us", "our", ABN 84 298 779 637) provides a subscription bedtime-story service. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

When you sign up, we collect:

Parent details: your name, email address, and payment information (handled directly by Stripe — we never see or store your full card details).
Child details: your child's first name, age, and stated interests, provided by you via our onboarding form.
Usage information: which stories have been sent, delivery dates, and subscription status.

2. How we use it

We use this information to:

Generate personalised bedtime stories for your child (name, age and interests are used to prompt our AI story-generation system).
Deliver stories to your inbox on schedule (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings).
Process your subscription payments and manage billing, trials, and cancellations.
Send service emails — welcome messages, story deliveries, trial reminders, and payment notices.
Improve the quality and reliability of the service.

We do not sell your personal information, or your child's, to anyone. We do not use your child's details for advertising or profiling.

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers ("processors") to run TaleNights. Each only receives the information needed to perform its function:

Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
Airtable — secure storage of your subscriber and delivery records.
Anthropic (Claude API) — generates story text from your child's name, age and interests.
Resend — delivers our emails to your inbox.
Tally — collects your onboarding form responses.

These providers are contractually bound to only use your data to provide their service to us, and not for their own purposes.

4. Data retention

We keep subscriber and story records for as long as your subscription is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping and legal purposes. You can request deletion of your data at any time — see Section 6.

5. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access-controlled systems. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

6. Your rights

You can, at any time:

Ask what personal information we hold about you or your child.
Correct or update your child's details (just reply to any story email).
Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Cancel your subscription (see Terms of Service).

7. Cookies

Our website uses minimal, essential cookies only, to keep the site functioning correctly. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's information

TaleNights is a service used by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. We only collect a child's first name, age, and interests — never contact details, photos, or any other identifying information about a child. A parent or guardian must create and manage the account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
